V is for Vehicles

Welcome to my Blogging from A to Z April Challenge for 2019! The A to Z Challenge is a blogging event held each April. Bloggers create posts from A to Z beginning on April 1st and ending on April 30th. There is a post scheduled for each day of the month (except for Sundays) with each day corresponding to a sequential letter of the alphabet.

The next two days of toddler activities are probably the Boy's favorites. We're starting with the one that easily takes over the majority of his day. For letter V, we're going with Vehicles!

This boy loves just about anything with wheels. He loves playing with wheels, riding in vehicles, and watching shows with cars/trucks/etc.

He got his cute little Cozy Coupe for his 1st birthday from Nana and Papa. He loved being pushed around in it when he was littler, now he likes climbing in and taking himself for a little drive around the living room. He has also taken to driving his little brother around. They're both pretty entertained by this.

We got him a tricycle for his 2nd birthday. We have not perfected the "riding" it idea yet, but he likes to push it around, be pushed around on it, and especially enjoys hiding things in the trunk.

By and large though, he typically enjoys playing with small vehicular toys. Firetrucks are his number one favorite. He likes to make the noises and push them around. He engages them in imagination play frequently, driving them around the couches and the floor.

We use the lines on the living room rug as a road and drive them around. We review colors and shapes. We use directional words (ladder up, ladder down) and relational words (on the table, under the table). There are a lot of ways for us to include his love for vehicles in learning play.

And then there's just the cutest thing ever. He has started to share his toys and his love for vehicles with the Baby. They play together once in a while and it's almost always giggles and smiles. It just makes my heart want to explode. This is almost always the best part of my day. I love watching these two teach each other and enjoy things together. If we can find toys that bring them together more, I'm all for it!
