The Big Read Challenge (5 Countries, 5 Lists)

Every once in a while I come across a random reading challenge or list that I find interesting. That is what happened here. Though it took place in 2003, I didn't hear about The BBC's The Big Read until late 2019. Similar to PBS's The Great American Read in the United States, This list was the most popular reads in the UK and sought to discover, via votes from the public, which book topped the list. Spoiler: The ultimate winner was J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings

This type of show also took place in Australia, Germany, Hungary, Bulgaria, and Latvia around the same time. I was unable to find the Latvian list, but the lists for the other five countries are shown below.

I'll be tracking my personal progress in completing the books on these lists as I have done with The Great American Read and other similar "must read" lists.
