Summer Library Challenge Read-a-Thon: Goals

This week we're taking on another read-a-thon. This week it's the Summer Library Challenge Read-a-Thon hosted by The Book Monsters.

Darian has decided to join me this week, so we went over to the library this morning after his orthodontist appointment (where he got his fourth retainer...this time a more sturdy one that he hopefully can't destroy). We got him all stocked up and I traded in the books I finished last week for two new ones to add to my current pile.

We've both set goals based on our goals from the Bout of Books read-a-thon we did in May. If we met the goal, then we've set our goal about 20% higher. If we didn't meet our goal, well...then we've more or less stuck with that original goal.

I'll be finishing up my currently library book and then taking a slight detour for my Deal Me In book of the week before going back to the library stack. Darian is starting off by finishing his current e-book and then heading to his library books. We're both looking forward to some pretty great books.

  1. Hmmmmmm..... I dunno how you could make it special. Revolving Rooms? ~ Read in all the rooms of your house. Outdoor Love? ~ Read a whole book outside. I hope you enjoy it! I look forward to your updates!

    1. You have some good ideas! I think we'll probably have to sit down and come up with a plan. It's nice to have something extra to motivate us and make it even more fun.

  2. We have a designated reading tree in our backyard. It's a sprawling thing with lots of nooks and crannies for books and secret treasures. It's one our favorite places to go.

    1. That sounds awesome! Our yard doesn't have anything that cool. We'll probably end up doing some reading up in our library (the bonus room over the garage) and maybe some truncated form of our 24 hour read. We'll see.

  3. Does he have a permanent retainer? I know after my daughter got her braces off, they said she could get one of those but she wouldn't really need it. I think it goes for the bottom teeth and stays behind the teeth.

    1. He has a permanent on the bottom teeth. He's still in mixed dentition (some permanent, some baby teeth) and we may need a second phase of ortho so he's in a removable upper retainer right now. He started out with the Invisalign version, but had a tendency to chew on them and destroy them so now he's in a traditional one. I think he's regretting the chewing now... :)

    1. So far, so good. Better for Darian than me, but we're both reading, so that's something. It's always been something we've liked to do together. Collin isn't much of a reader, but I've been lucky in that Dar has always been willing to join me. I figure we probably don't have many years left where he thinks it's fun to hang out with me like that so I'm totally taking advantage when I have the chance.

  5. I must say I approve of the books on your list Darian - awesome choices! I've read all of them except the last one by Stewart, and I hope you enjoy them all!

Elle, all the books on your list are on my want to read list as well. Hope they are awesome!

    1. So far, so good. Our lowest star rating for any of the books during the read-a-thon has been a 3-star book and no books have been abandoned. It's been a lot of 4-star reads. That always makes the reading easier.
