Bout of Books 13: Warm Up Post

Bout of Books has arrived!
The Bout of Books Read-a-Thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It's a week long read-a-thon that begins at 12:01am on Monday, May 11th and runs through Sunday, May 17th in whatever timezone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 13 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. - From the Bout of Books team.

I just finished my first semester back at college, so I'll now be enjoying a five-week break. What better time to start a read-a-thon!? I'm excited to get some books finished this week.

I'm working part of the week, but I plan on spending a lot of time in my evenings reading. I also expect that it will take up a good portion of my weekend. I'm more than okay with that!

When I wrote my planning post, I stated that I wasn't sure if Darian was going to participate or not this time around. Well...you'll be happy to know that he has assured me that he will be taking part, but a little more quietly than last time. He will be reading during the week and weekend, but he won't be taking part in any of the Twitter chats and he'll be phoning me from his mom's house on the weekend to give me his updates rather than doing the weekend reading with me. Better some reading than none, so I'm just stoked that he's taking part!

He has already crashed for the evening, so I'll be checking with him on his plans tomorrow, but I have my book stack all ready to go.

Here's what I have planned..

Elle's Bout of Books...

Elle's Bout of Books 13 Goals:

1. Read every day.
2. Read a total of ten hours (600 minutes).
3. Read at least 3 books.
4. Read at least 600 pages.
5. Participate in a Twitter Chat
6. Participate in at least three mini-challenges.

My goals are low pressure for the most part. I wanted to motivate myself to stay away from the temptations of electronics and instead spend my evening free-time reading, so I have set some time goals, but they're pretty minimal considering that this is a week long read-a-thon. If I read at least one hour each night and then a couple of hours on the weekend days, then I'll have my goals made. Not bad.

Elle's Bout of Books 13 Reading List:

I don't necessarily have an order for the books I'll be reading since I tend to fly by the seat of my pants a little more these days, but I do have a small arsenal that I'll be choosing from. More than likely, my reading list will be comprised of books from the following list:

Lord of the Flies by William Golding
Not That Kind of Girl by Lena Dunham
The Lost Wife by Alyson Richman
City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare
Nothing Like Looking by Chris Van Hakes
The Opposite of Maybe by Maddie Dawson
The Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard

The Plan

I'm keeping track of my reading using my handy dandy Excel spreadsheet. It hasn't failed me yet!

The plan is to do update posts every evening with a wrap-up post on the 18th. Challenges may be posted in the daily post or as their own separate post, depending on how I'm feeling about it at the time.

Happy Reading Everyone!!
