Happy day two of the 2016 Blogging from A to Z Challenge!
Today, the magic letter is...
The Boyfriend List: 15 Guys, 11 Shrink Appointments, 4 Ceramic Frogs and Me, Ruby Oliver (Ruby Oliver #1)
See. Already fun. And yes...I did originally pick this book for the cover.
Synopsis in a Sentence:
Ruby Oliver is a teenage girl with boy trouble, friend trouble, and a whole lot of angst and spunk.
The Boy Book: A Study of Habits and Behaviors, Plus Techniques for Taming Them (Ruby Oliver #2)
First Read:
First Read:
I read all four Ruby Oliver books in the fall of 2014. They're quick and easy YA fiction reads and they are cute as buttons. I adore Ruby. She's one of my favorite female characters. She's independent and hilarious. She's a bit of a mental case, but I love her just the same. For all the mess that is her life, she's still pretty grounded through all of it and she's not afraid to have her own opinions.
Something Special:
Footnotes used to annoy the bejeezus out of me. I hated being distracted from the story. But...I've learned to embrace them thanks to E. Lockhart. She uses footnotes so well in the telling of Ruby's story that I couldn't help but start to love them. Plus, just like the subtitles, they are very much Ruby and very entertaining.
Why it Makes the List:
Ruby is just plain awesome. She's a neurotic mess, but I love her just the same. E. Lockhart does a good job at writing a teenage girl. The drama...oh, the drama. This one made me giddy happy and I loved it. It also very much helps that it's a series that stayed strong from start to finish. The final book in the series was my favorite out of the four, but they all were fantastic. It's a series I'm very likely to put on a reread list. These also make for a stellar summer read choice.

Sounds like a good series! I'm not a fan of YA, but I might give this one a try. Happy A2Z-ing!

For as adolescent as it is, I will have to say that E. Lockhart just has a way with words. It's just a really cute series.
