Oh my goodness...day four almost killed me. And not because of the reading. In fact, I didn't even get to the reading until 10pm. Ridiculous.
It was a long day at work and tomorrow looks to be about the same. I did have a nice, long lunch hour, but I spent it taking care of errands and catching up on my Feedly instead of reading a book. Not a horrible use of time, but not quite what I really intended to do at the outstart of the day.
After I got home from work, I threw myself into finishing up the photo rag quilt I've been working on. I'm delivering it to the woman who ordered it tomorrow (2 full weeks before deadline. Yay!), so it was kind of a do or die situation. Unfortunately, what I expected to take about an hour ended up taking over three and totally wreaked havoc on my hands in the process. I'd be lying if I said that didn't make me a bit grumpy.
While I was tackling that, Darian read for a brief stint and then disappeared. I found him later in the basement playing with LEGOs. Apparently, he decided he needed a reading break.
I did manage to do the challenge for the day. I posted my "If you liked this, try this" post earlier this evening. It's probably not the absolute best I could have done, but I came up with some pretty good books that I would recommend to others, so I'm calling that a win.
Now...let's do some stats so I can crash out before another crazy day begins.

Darian is still saying that he'll be calling me with updates while he's out of town. I'm still calling bologna. (No...I can't bring myself to spell it boloney. Collin and I had a conversation about how annoying it is when people use the word "donut" instead of "doughnut". I feel the same way about "boloney". There's just something inherently wrong with it.) Anywho...I have my doubts that he'll make his final goals until he returns on Sunday night. Hopefully he's here early enough to have time to finish the book he's working on. We'll see.
As for me, well...you guys are stuck with me for the weekend. I'll be around here every day until the task is done. After that, believe it or not there will be crafts...and recipes...and photography. I'm actually going to do something around here other than books. It's been a nice summer departure, but I'm itching to create - after I get my sewing machine repaired the rest of the way. Poor baby. It's still struggling a little. It goes back into the shop next week.
Well...enough blabbering for now. I'm headed to bed and my nice soft pillow. I'll catch up with you guys again tomorrow. Happy reading!!
I totally get you with the "bologna" thing first of all. Both you and Darien are doing great! It's awesome that he has completed his goal already, with 3 days to spare! And I know you will get your goals too by the end of the week! Keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteThanks Emma!
DeleteI only read 50 pages yesterday and I ended up DNFing the darn book :P Ah well, today will be better right? :)
ReplyDeleteUgh. That's totally frustrating. I hate it when I have a DNF.
DeleteIts great that you and Darien are doing this together... for the next one I should get my son to take part. I am sure he would enjoy this because he is a reader too..good luck
ReplyDeleteYou definitely should! Darian sets up a Goodreads goal every year and then participates in the BOTY Bracket with me. It's fun and I get him to do a lot of reading.
